How to Update the Firmware on an X2/SF 9415
Solution
FOLLOW THIS PROCESS TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ON X2's and SF 9415's.
To Update the Firmware, go to the SCT Tech Support page and click on Device Updates and Downloads
For Drop down 1 select the Ford Xcalibrator 2 - P/N: 9400, For Drop Down 2 Pick the Device Update Software
Click on "Click Here to Download" that is next to the Live Update 2 program.
Install this application, once installed plug in the X2 and the open the software you just installed.
Before proceeding, go back to the website, Under the Notes section, there is a link that says: "Click Here to Download the Firmware".
Click on this link and save this file to your desktop.
Once saved go back to the LiveUpdate Program, click on browse at the top right.
Browse to the desktop and locate the firmware file you saved, highlight it and click open.
When you get back to the liveupdate screen, click on OK, this will begin to transfer the firmware file and update the X2.
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT UNPLUG DURING UPDATE
Note: If you have custom tunes on your tuner, a firmware update will not erase them, pressing Erase Files however will erase all custom tunes.
